New York to Barbados and Jamaica Non Stop

Starting October 1, 2009, JetBlue will begin direct service from New York’s John F. Kennedy Airport to Grantley Adams International Airport in Bridgetown, Barbados.  JetBlue will offer daily non-stop service to the capital on a 150 seat Airbus A320 aircraft, complete with JetBlue’s usual amenities of leather seats, unlimited snacks and complimentary TVs in every seatback.

This move comes after Air Jamaica suspended it’s service from New York to Barbados. The Barbados Tourism Authority toutedthe JetBlue deal as a beneficial move towards increasing the already plentiful US tourism market, which is the island’s second largest after the United Kingdom. The route will give Barbados over 54,000 more seats each year for possible visitors.

In addition to adding Barbados to their service, JetBlue is planning on offering direct flights to Montego Bay, Jamaica from JFK. The service is scheduled to start on May 21, 2009 but is still pending clearance from the government operating authority.
